Yeongdong, located in the southernmost part of the North Chungcheong Province, neighbors with three provinces; Chungnam, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongbuk, and is surrounded by the Sobaek Mountain Ranges. Most of this county is composed of mountainous districts. This County is adjoined by 16 towns and subcounties and 5 County of 3 provinces. The whole area is 846.27§´ which corresponds to 11.4% of the total area of the North Chungcheong Province. |

There are abundant tourist resources in this county, with Yangsan eight scenes, Hancheon eight scenes, and Mulhan valley. Two rivers, River Geum and River Cho provide good scenery and abundant water resources.
Gyeongbu expressway, rail roads, and national roads run from east to west in the county linking with Yeongnam, Honam districts, and capital regions. It can reach biggest cities such as Seoul and Busan within 3hours via these roads. This mountainous district, in which most residents are engaged in farming, has considerably small agricultural area per household. Recently by the policy of agriculture and manufacturing, Yeongdong, Yongsan agriculture-manufacturing districts and many factories are under construction beside the access road of the Gyeongbu expressway in Yongsan and Hwanggan subcounty. In accordance with it, the development of industry will be more vitalized.
Surrounded by the pollution-free nature, Yeongdong is also the main producer of grapes, persimmons (dried persimmons), apples, pears, peaches, plums, and walnuts. This is made possible by the wide temperature range between day and night. The special agricultural products of Yeongdong have unique taste and aromas; they also have an intense sweetness and delicious color, which makes them the best in the region. Yeongdong is especially famous for the chief district producer of grapes in Korea. Persimmon trees on the street signify that this place is the home of the persimmon. Yeongdong is a country where fresh winds blow and the bright moon rises.
Yeongdong is the place where Mr. Park Yeon was born and the place is full of things related to Korean classical music. Yeongdong does its best to continue and promote his great achievement. Based on the utmost love for Korean classical music, the city has recently introduced to the world. |
