Jeungpyeong County is situated at the centre of the province and sharing boundaries with Goesan eastward, Cheongwon westward, Jincheon and Eumseong northward. As of now, the county takes up 1.1% of the total land surface area of the North Chungcheong Province with an area of 81.8§´. Jeungpyeong¡¯s land is consisted of about 50.6%, or 41.1§´ of forests, whereas the land for farming is 31.7%, or 26.0§´, and others as 17.7%, 14.7§´. As of December, 2006, it has the population of 30,814 with 11,508 households and is divided into 1 town and 1 subcounty.

Since the Jeungpyeong belongs to a monsoon climate zone, it is cold and largely dry during the winter times as influenced by the continental climate, while it is hot and humid with lots of rain during the summer as influenced by the oceanic climate. The average annual temperature is around 11.3¡ÆC, while the average temperature during the month of January is around -3.4¡ÆC and that during the month of August is around 23.4¡ÆC. The difference over the year is 26.8¡ÆC. The Jeungpyeong region has 1,402.9mm of rainfall on average each year. The most precipitation is shown in the summer, when the northern Pacific Ocean appears, while the lowest precipitation appears in winter.

Located in the central region of the country, Jeungpyeong is the hub center of the nation' transportation where Jungbu Expressway, Chungbuk Railway and nearby Cheongju International Airport are well connected domestically and internationally. These well established transportation system makes available easy access to every living sphere of the nation.

Traditionally, Jeungpyeong has a reputation as the abundant farming products including rice, ginseng, and apple. Among them, Jeungpyeong Ginseng is grown in the mid-mountainous region to contain high level of saponin, the medicinal property of ginseng.
